The week's fodder
Today was a processed food day. Starbucks non-fat latte. Peanut Butter Cookie Luna Bar with an inspiring quote on the side. Lean cuisine. Iit was as if mother nature knew that she would be bestowing a gift upon me at the end of the day.
At around 4 pm today, I burst into Anne's office to see our weekly stash. Green Italian flat beans that someone told me to cook with pork fat and sugar. Summer tomatos aching for olive oil, window basil and crusty bread. The parents of last week's green tipped yellow squash-bigger and heartier then their orphaned children from last week. A trio of garlic, tinged with purple, smelling mild. And peaches---fragrant, misshapen, sign of summer, melt in your mouth, who needs chocolate peaches.
I'm a happy girl.
